Keesh was HERE :)

Makeesha and her family came to visit us on their mammoth trip across Canada and the US! It was SO fabulous to meet her and her family! Absolutely delightful people :) I could have spent more time with them if time had allowed it. As it was, they spent the weekend here! Anywho, here are a couple of pics of us from this weekend. Isn't that a huge group? Considering it's only two families ... NINE kids! LOL! It was great and the kids all got along famously. I know our kids will miss theirs. Caleb had already asked if we could move to Australia! I'd love to but who knows ... we'll have to see where God leads us. Perhaps there's a church out there for Paul????

I hope you all have a fabulous day! Hopefully I'll be able to get stamping soon ... lots of thunderstorms have been rolling through in the past couple of days, keeping us indoors a little more but somehow, the day flies without me being able to stamp!

Colour Q Challenge #39

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Watercolour Trio, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Sanded
Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Bella Bleu DSP, Christmas Cocoa DSP (retired), Watercolour Paper, Bravo Burgundy
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Real Red, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Trim Punch, Dimensionals™, Curly Label Punch, AquaPainter™, Vintage Brads, Burgundy Grosgrain

A totally patriotic colour theme this week, eh? Well, not really for us Canadians but as far as the US goes, it's all Red, White, and Blue! Not being American, I didn't really want to make a patriotic card that I'd have relatively little use for ... but I was in need of a sympathy card and it seemed to be going that way as I was making the card. I combined last week's Mojo Monday sketch along with this week's Colour Q challenge and the current challenge from Just Add Ink (to use patterned paper!). Please check out what the Royal Court DT (links are in my sidebar) came up with for this challenge! I'm sure you'll see quite a variety of ways to use these colours together :)

I hope you like my card! If you have need of more info, please just send me an email (there's a contact link above!)!

Have a great day!

Artisan Award reject/non-winner/etc - Happy Birthday Card

another rejected entry for the Artisan Award ... now, seriously, HOW could SU NOT like this one? huh? Well, either way, I LOVE this card. I think it was my favorite out of the whole bunch, hee hee!

If I remember right, Ilina Crouse had had an Inspired Tuesday challenge for a little while and this card was inspired by that challenge. I can't really remember which challenge (the second one?) but I remember the soft tones. The blue was an interesting brightness to add, don't you think?

Anywho, thanks for stopping by my blog today! Don't forget to check out what fabulousness Julie posted this week! I'll be back next week with the next Artisan project. See you tomorrow for the Colour Q challenge!

Scrappy Sunday :)

When we visit my parents place, my children all love to check out Oma's garden. They all troop around with her wherever she goes and they LOVE it! I stop them all to take a couple fun pics. Of course, they rarely stay still for a minute ... oh well!

I used all sorts of things for this page using MDS but none of the digi items are from My Digital Studio. They are from freebies that I'd found on the internet from Katie Pertiet, a designer for Designer Digitals. They've got a great digi forum -- I'd link it but I don't think I'm permitted according my demonstrator agreement with Stampin' Up!. Just Google the name and you'll find it :)

Thanks for visiting!

Inkspirations Challenge #29

Stamps: Baby Tee Jumbo Wheel, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Dot, Dot, Dot
Paper: Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Welcome Neighbour DSP (retired), Green Tea DSP (retired), Watercolour Paper, Whisper White
Ink: Stazon™, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White
Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Versa Marker, Vanilla Grosgrain, White Gel Pen, Mat Pack & Piercer, Dimensionals™, Circles #2 die, Linen Thread, Clothespin (non-SU)

Good morning! It's a new challenge for you from Inkspirations! This week, it's a sketch challenge and it's being hosted by Cindy this week so you'll have to visit her blog to link up your creation! She's also added a TWIST this week! Fun, fun :) The twist is to go through your carefully hoarded embellishment stash and use up something that you've never used yet. We've all got something like that, right? I've had these mini clothespins forever and have never used them once. I must have had some bright idea but I never got around to doing it ... LOL!

Anyway, I used a new stamp that will be in the upcoming catalogue (we demo's got to preorder this month). This is actually a wheel called "Baby Tee's". I planned on taking it apart when I ordered it because I'd probably never use it as a wheel but I LOVED the baby t-shirt. So, as soon as I got it, I peeled the rubber off of the wheel and put the rubber on some EZ Mount foam and then cut them out individually. There were tons of little dots on it and in rather awkward spots to take off but my hubby had the bright idea of slicing them off of the rubber with a craft knife rather than trying to cut them out!

So, they were stamped on the background piece (the Banana cs) with Whisper White ink and then embossed with the white embossing powder. Then, I stamped the dots with Apricot Appeal. The baby shirts were coloured in with a versa marker just to get them to show up a little darker. I combined the sketch challenge with a challenge from Embellish (these colours along with a baby theme).

Now, you've got to check out what the rest of the Inkspirations team has made with Keesh's sketch and then you've gotta link up your own fantabulous creation! I can't wait to see what everyone makes :)

Hope you like my card! Thanks for visiting!!

Because I Care Card Box

I'd recently held a "Mega Cards" Class and this was the box that all the attendees got to make to hold all 12 cards! It was really easy to put together and everyone was surprised at that. I know that I tend to avoid boxes that are fussy and so when I'd designed this one, I tried to keep it as simple and user-friendly as possible. The stamp set is one that I'd received free from Stampin' Up! and will be in the upcoming catalogue. It's a Level One hostess set so you'll have to host a workshop/host a book party (or spend the equivalent) to receive this set. It's GORGEOUS and right up my alley, especially seeing as Bloomin' Beautiful is retiring!

I was inspired by the recent Fall-to-Layout for the front of this box. The back of the box is the same Vanilla piece just without the coloured flower panel!

I'll be adding this template to my "Stamping Classes with Renée" blog so if you're interesting in purchasing the template along with step-by-step photo directions, please click HERE!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you like my box :)

Colour Q Challenge #38

Stamps: Awash with Flowers, God's Blessings
Paper: Whisper White, Urban Oasis DSP (retired), Riding Hood Red, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Whisper White Craft, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss, Bordering Blue
Accessories: AquaPainter™, Dimensionals®, White Embossing Powder, Scallop Edge Punch, Silver Brads, White Taffeta

It's time for another Colour Q challenge! It's hard to believe that a week has already gone by ... way too fast, if you ask me! The summer will be over before we know it ... The sketch is from Taylored Expressions. I was inspired by a card that Janine Tinklenberg had made a while ago using this same stamp set. She'd embossed the flowers with white embossing powder and it really added something different! It feels so much softer, don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you like my card and are inspired to create something :) Please check out the Colour Q blog to see that challenge and what the rest of the Royal Court DT came up with!

Have a great day!

Artisan Award reject/non-winner/etc - So Happy for You

So, I told you a little while ago that calls had been made for the 2010 Artisan Award ... and I didn't get a call sooooooooooo Diana -- you get to eat your shirt, and Brandi - you get to eat your crop-a-dile ... LOL :) I love what I do and how my creativity ends up being expressed ... evidently it's not a style that SU is into ... but, anyways ... moving on, I DO get to show my fabulous artwork, LOL :)

When the easel cards were all the rage (thanks to a fab tutorial on SplitCoast), I had made this one first before the other two that I have since made (see here and here)! I kept the colours simple and pretty -- perfect for a baby girl -- and used my favorite baby stamp set - Nursery Necessities. Over all, a simply pretty card that any new parents would love to receive, eh?!

Julie and I are both posting our Artisan Award non-winning projects on the same days, so stop by her blog to see what she entered!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day! Come back tomorrow to see the next Colour Q challenge!

Scrappy Sunday :)

Welcome back to another edition of Scrappy Sunday! These photo's were taken a couple of winters ago (I'm working on 2008 photo's, remember!). I loved the colours in these pics ... so bright and crisp. It was an incredibly cold day too ... all of my family had come up for Christmas and they were frozen to the bone but we just had to get outside for a bit! The bottom pic shows two of my three sisters with my son, Jacob. The pic of the slide shows my other sister on the left and my mum on the right. And the other little snow bunny in the top pic is Maria (our now-5 year old)!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I LOVE reading your comments, especially on the scrap pages as I'm still working on developing skill in this area ... :) Have a great day!

from me to you

Stamps: Punched Posies, So Many Sayings, Paradise
Paper: Crumb Cake/Kraft, Cameo Coral, Afternoon Tea DSP (retired), Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Twine, Dimensionals®, Large Flower Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Whisper White Satin, Little Leaves Sizzlit

I made this quick card the other day when I got this stamp set with my last order. Ive been wanting this level 2 hostess set ever since I first saw it! It matches with so many punches -- saves a lot of cut work ... although I like finicky cut work! The sketch is from 2 Sketches 4 You and the colours are from this week's Colour Throwdown.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great weekend :)

Inkspirations Challenge 28

Stamps: Extreme Elements, Extreme Skateboard, A to Z
Paper: Naturals White, Haiku DSP (retired), Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Taffeta, Canvas Accents (retired), Twine, Dimensionals®

Hoo boy ... I'm so out of it right now ... stamping, that is! Summer has hit our house and it's only gonna get busier with the kids finishing school today :) So, just a heads up, I'll probably only be posting 3 or 4 times week for the next while as we're going to spending as much time outdoors at home and away throughout the summer!

Anyways, you didn't come here to read all that, did you? You came to see the next oh-so-fabulous colour challenge from Keesh! These colours were an interesting mix. I immediately thought Halloween, but I don't make Halloween things at all so I had to come up with something else!

So, since my mojo was seriously lacking, it ended up taking 4 times longer than normal to make this pretty simple card ... crazy -- 4 days! LOL :) I had finally bought some yarn needles -- I've been meaning to get them for a while but I never remembered when I was out and about (generally rare to go out lately LOL!). But, got them I did and I stitched the twine to the card, creating those fun x's and an interesting element!

I hope you like my card :) Please check out what the rest of the DT made this week and then link up yours to enter for the opportunity to be a guest DT next week!

Colour Q Challenge #37

Stamps: Watercolour Trio, En Francais
Paper: Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Ink: Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red
Accessories: Prima flower, button (retired), Dimensionals®, Eyelet Border Punch

Pretty basic card for me this week for the Colour Q Challenge! I'm unmotivated at the moment and we've had a crazy weekend ... my daughter turned 8 last week so we ended up having two birthday parties on top of everything else!

These are interesting colours together. Love them together in the inspiration pic, anyway! I found them challenging to work with. Two of them are my least favorite colours (I'm glad they are retiring!) --> Cameo and Ruby!

Anywho, hope you like my card for this week's challenge! Check it out on the Colour Q blog and see what the Royal Court DT made too (links are in my sidebar!)!

Have a great day!

Joy Fold Card

ahh, I forgot to share the last of my Fun Folds Class! This was the fourth card in the class called a "Joy Fold". Fairly simple fold to create but it's interesting and easy for a recipient to figure out how to open!

I'd never used this set as a 2-step set, even though that's what it is. I find the background part oddly sized -- way smaller than the outline. I recognize that that is the style but I'm just not sure I love that ... but, I'll probably love it one day :)

Anyways, if you want more info on the card (or any of the cards), you'll just have to get the tutorial as I keep these kind of class details special for those that attend my classes! LOL :)

Have a great day! Thanks for visiting!

Scrappy Sunday :)

Welcome back for another edition of Scrappy Sunday! I'm really enjoying being able to share these pages with you. It's fun to give myself a challenge to get my pictures scrapbooked. The other day, my oldest son had pulled out his scrapbook to look at it. After he'd looked, he said to me, "Mama, I really loved reading the things you said about me! They make me feel so good!". Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? It's the best compliment and it totally motivated me to continue working on their albums. These are things they will cherish -- maybe not every day, but certainly at other times in their lives!

Sooooooooo, this is a more recent page of pictures. I'm trying to stay caught up currently all the while working on the past! These pics were taken last week of my two youngest children - Jake & 'Tias. They were goofing around with the sunglasses while waiting for my older daughter, Hannah, to get home from school!

The layout comes from a fun sketch via Soul Scrappers. I'd seen the community a while ago but hadn't joined yet ... When I saw the sketch on Gretchen's blog, I knew I had to play! Challenges are huge motivators for me!

Anywho, please let me know what you think of this page?!

Have a great day!

Renée

Inkspirations Challenge 27

Stamps: Elements of Style, Short & Sweet
Paper: Whisper White, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Stazon™, Mellow Moss, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Texturz Backgrounds, Dimensionals®, AquaPainter™, Bashful Blue Stitched Grosgrain, Half-back Pearls

This week's Inkspirations challenge is a sketch! I love how my card ended up! It was a spur of the moment creation in the wee hours of last night ... time was running away on me with too many other things all going on at the same time :)

Anyways, this is a pretty monochromatic card with a pop of colour in the main image and the ribbon. I used the colours from this week's Curtain Call challenge (finally got one done on time!). I hope you're not tired of seeing me use this stamp set! I LOVE it. It's so beautiful and it is SO simple to colour! You don't need to be a watercolour genius to play with this set.

I hope you like my card! Please check out what the rest of the Inkspirations team (links in my sidebar) came up with for this week's sketch :) Link up your creation on Keesh's blog for a chance to be guest DT!

Have a great day :)

just for you

Stamps: Friends 24/7, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Define Your Life
Paper: Very Vanilla, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Watercolour Paper, Old Olive
Ink: Stazon™, Old Olive, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Dimensionals®, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Scallop Edge Punch, AquaPainter™, Ovals Originals Die, MicroBeads, Rose Red Stitched Grosgrain

I made this card yesterday for the sketch challenge on SplitCoast Stampers! I hadn't stamped in a while ... and I was searching for my creative mojo for stamp club on Friday ... so this will be our card for that night! I still have to get the scrapbook page ready ... LOL :) ahhh today is another day to get that done, eh?

Anyway, hope you like the card! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you have a fabulous day :)

Colour Q Challenge #36

Stamps: Watercolour Trio, A to Z
Paper: Whisper White, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Tea Party DSP (retired)
Ink: Sage Shadow, Pumpkin Pie, Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Accessories: Spiral Punch, So Saffron Grosgrain (retired), Dimensionals®, Scallop Edge Punch, Corner Rounder, Mat Pack & Piercer

I had fun making this one! I had seen somewhere the new embossing plates from Tim Holtz and one of them was a note paper. Well, really. So easy to reproduce on my own! I just took a scoring tool and scored lines every 1/2" and then punched the edge with the Spiral Punch. The next step was to rub the ink pad right over it and then sponge the edges. Easy peesy!

The rest of the card came together after that. I added a little bit of stitching for the Just Add Ink challenge too! The ric rac piece is simply a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock that I punched both edges with the scallop edge punch, making sure the scallops were alternating each other. The strip started out with a 3/4" piece of card stock. Normally, if I'd wanted it a little thicker and a little more "ric rac" looking, I'd probably use a 1" strip of card stock.

Check out the Colour Q Challenge on the Colour Q blog and see what the Royal Court made using these very same colours :)

Have a great day :)

From the Heart

Stamps: Watercolour Trio
Paper: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Regal Rose, Summer Sun, Apricot Appeal, Rose Red
Accessories: Bitty Buttons, Regal Rose Grosgrain, Linen Thread, Dimensionals®, Buttons Sizzlets Die

Here's a simple card for you ... I played with the Fall-to-Layout and actually kept it clean and simple! So often, I'll start out trying their sketches and all-too-often, it becomes not so clean and simple, LOL! I paired it with Stacey's Curtain Call challenge from last week (think I'm too late for the deadline, oh well!). The Regal Rose card stock was simply scored every 1/4" and some score lines were double scored slightly over to the side to give the impression of a larger score line.

Anywho, hope you have a fantabulous day! Thanks for poppin' in!

Renée

Scrappy Sunday :)

yes, I'm back with another MDS scrap page! I'm totally LOVING the fact that I'm actually getting something done and scrapped! Just a few more pages and then I think I'll send them off to get developed. I had done one album through SU, but I think I'm going to try a different printing option this time ... there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the printing through SU. In fact, it was excellent quality. The only thing -- it came bound (which I chose) and my hubby and I didn't care for how it felt -- too unsubstantial? So, I'm gonna develop them as individual pages and still put them in a regular scrapbook to give it a little extra oomph! So, enough about that, on to this page!

This is actually a more current page. While I'm working on our family album, I also want to scrap page highlights for each of our children that I can put in their own books. Each child has several scrapbooks already (except for the youngest two ...) so I can easily add these pages to their albums. This page is a 12x12 format and I used the layout from a recent Page Maps blog entry.

There is a couple of non-SU digi items on here along with a bunch of SU digi items. A couple of them are newer downloads that don't come with MDS in the standard kit -- the Vintage overlays and the School Days kit?).

Hope you liked this week's scrap page! Have a great rest of your day :)

Renée
