OK, well, before I can talk about this card I have GOT to ask you something! Do any of you watch Grey's Anatomy? Well, call me an addict ... it's probably a show I ought not to watch as it promotes lifestyles that conflicts with my beliefs but still, it's amazing drama ... and last night! WOW! Total crazy show. I was bawling through most of it ... and I can't believe that Meredith miscarried (totally makes sense considering the shock) without even telling Derek she was pregnant in the first place ... :(
anyway ... on to the card, eh?
I'd seen a few version of a monochromatic/toile look to this same stamp set and I loved the look so here's my version, LOL! The sketch is from this week's
Mojo Monday sketch -- finally getting to one a few days after it comes rather than several weeks ... I'll be making this one at an upcoming "Mega" class coming up in June. It's fun and it's relatively simple -- just a lot of layers!
I've been asked a few times on how to create the ruffled ribbon. It seems to be a very popular technique for a lot of cardmakers and it's actually very simple to do! So, with that in mind, I thought I'd do a step-by-step while making this card. You don't end up seeing a ton of it on the card ... it didn't quite go where I originally envisioned ... but anyway, here's a quick tutorial!

Start out with laying a strip of Sticky Strip where you would like your ribbon to go.
Cut your ribbon. I started with a piece of ribbon that was double my cardstock width. If you want more loops than I did on this particular piece, you will need 2-1/2x the length of your card stock.

Bunch up the ribbon in little loops.

now, for this piece, I didn't want the whole looping thing along because I knew my image was going to cover a bunch of it, so I laid it flat and then resumed the loops at the opposite ends.

To have the ribbon lay fat, I put a glue dot behind each ribbon loop and press them flat in the direction I want them to go.

and there you go: beautifully "ruffled"/"accordioned" ribbon!

and here's an image of the whole tutorial that I created using My Digital Studio (along with some of the
newer downloads!) that you can click on and save it to your computer or wherever you keep these kinds of things!
I also submitted this one for Lesley's "
Guest Paper Player" of the month! She's looking for different people to be guest designers with her new challenge team!
Hope you enjoyed my mini tutorial :) Have a great day!
