Card Patterns Sketch 39!

Some of you may know (and for those that don't, read on!), my husband has been slowly working on getting his masters degree at Calvin Seminary. He finally graduated this past May and so the next and final step is ordination! That's happening today, thank you Father!!! So, of course, being a good little cardmaker, I just had to make Paul a special card for this occasion. But really, what do you tell a guy for getting ordained? I've never witnessed an ordination before ... I just stuck close to what was in my heart and went with it! and of course, I tied it in with this week's sketch from Card Patterns :)

I used some retired Designer Series Paper for the main inspiration of colour for this card. The floral image was coloured in using an alcohol based marker and then cut out and popped up using dimensionals. I tied the bow using a bowmaker (there's no way I could make a pretty bow without that!).

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog today!! I'll try and get out to blog hop next week (it's crazy here --> lots of friends and family visiting for the weekend)!!! Please check out the Card Patterns blog to see what the rest of the team made!!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge!

Stamps: Holiday LineUp, Sparkly & Bright
Paper: Taken with Teal, Old Olive, Merry Moments DSP. Holiday Lounge DSP, Whisper White, Certainly Celery
Ink: Stazon™, Versa Mark, various for colouring
Accessories: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Bermuda Bay Dotted Grosgrain, Dimensionals®, Snowflake Punch, Vintage Brads

Another great, but challenging (for me), sketch from Keesh this week! The only reason it was challenging is that I wanted to add more but I had to keep it mailable for a single stamp because I used this at my last Christmas Cards Class on Wednesday! For some reason, the camera did NOT want to pick up the glitter that is over the popped up circle of snowmen ... oh well. Take my word for it, it's embossed! I love the "Spotlight" technique for this stamp set. It makes short work of colouring too!

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you like what I've made today!! Please check out the challenge over on Keesh's blog and also check out the Inkspirations DT's cards using the same sketch!!

Merry Christmas Skaters

Stamps: Winter Post, Four the Holidays, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Kraft, Not Quite Navy, Bella Bleu DSP, Very Vanilla
Ink: Basic Black Craft, Stazon™, markers for colouring, Versa Mark
Accessories: Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Dimensionals®, Always Artichoke Grosgrain

Here's another card made at last week's Christmas cards class. I have another one tonight and I believe that's it for me for this season (although I have scheduled with the Christmas Crop we're hosting in November!). I may or may not do another, depends on if my customers ask me enough!! Either way, I've made a nice dent in my own stash (I've made four of each card) but I still need quite a few more ... good thing I love making Christmas cards!

So, hope you like this card! Have a great day!

Season's Greetings

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Many Merry Messages
Paper: Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Stazon™, Always Artichoke Craft ink
Accessories: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Always Artichoke Grosgrain

This layout is certainly not a new one. I've seen it floating around for the past couple of Christmas seasons. I believe the first time I saw it, it was done by Julie Buhler (Paper Pleasing Ideas)? Not sure ... either way it's a gorgeous design and perfect for those flatter but mailable for a single postage stamp card!

Thanks for visiting my blog today! Let me know what you think of my project!!!

Christ is Born

Stamps: Christ is Born
Paper: Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red (Classic and Craft), Old Olive, Gold Encore
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder

This is a real simple Christmas card that lets the sentiment say it all. I think I'd done one somewhat similar last year but different colours. I love this set and the poinsettia is just gorgeous!!

Hope you like my card! Thanks for stopping by!!

I've updated my "For Sale" page so if you're interested in purchasing any of my retired sets, please let me know!

Movers & Shapers again!

Stamps: Friends 24-7, Many Merry Messages
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Watercolour Paper, Old Olive
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip Craft ink
Accessories: Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1, Movers & Shaper's die, Punch Windows, Little Leaves Sizzlits Die, Eyelet Border Punch, Real Red Dotted Grosgrain, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals®, Clear Embossing Powder

I've used my Movers & Shapers die again for this card!! Love love love this tool :) I used a new-to-me stamp set as well. I just got Friends 24-7 the other day and while I'm in Christmas mode, I just had to use it. So, I converted it to a Christmas set!! I'd shown my class attendees the set and they never would've thought to use this bird as a Christmas one but they totally loved it.

Hope you like my card! Thanks for visiting my blog today! Have a great day :)

Card Patterns Sketch 38

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Many Merry Messages
Paper: Ski Slope DSP (retired), Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Real Red
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Modern Label Punch (and Movers & Shapers matching one), Vintage Brads, Chocolate Taffeta, Linen Thread, Snowflake Punch, Buttons Latte, Mat Pack & Piercer, Dimensionals®

Ok, I left my mailable thing for now because I was really itching to add more depth and dimension. Not that I don't love the other cards, but they take way more thought ... LOL!

Today's Card Patterns sketch is a fun one. I loved the angled panel. Go check out the Card Patterns blog to see what the Card Patterns team came up with using this same sketch and link up your own version while you're there!!

I hope you like my card! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate all your visits and comments!

Inkspirations Inspiration Challenge #14

Are you sick of Christmas yet? I'm not, hee hee! Really, I have a ton of cards to make for myself and others that have ordered hand-made cards from me so I need to make lots ... So, in keeping with that goal, today's Inkspirations Challenge is a Christmas themed card for me! I love the bold and non-traditional colours this inspiration photo gave me for a Christmas card. It's different but not overwhelmingly so, wouldn't you say?

As you may or may not notice, I got a new tool! I finally broke down and got the Mover's & Shapers Curly Label die. I never really saw the point until I started seeing all these wonderful cards with cut outs in them. Also, all the shapes perfectly match the SU punches that I already have except that they are larger which is fabu for layering!! and I'm certainly keen on layering!! With this month's hostess special, I only paid $14 for it instead of the $58 (I think) that it originally is, so now was the perfect time for me to get it too :)

The sentiment and the tree are both stamped using craft ink and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I *love* Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I do believe I use it on pretty much every Christmas card I make!

Check out the rest of the Inkspiration team's projects form today's inspiration challenge!! Don't forget to make your project and link it up on Keesh's blog (the mastermind of all these wonderful challenges!)!!

I hope you like my card! Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Christmas Cards Class

Stamps: Delightful Decorations, Many Merry Messages
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Brushed Gold, Whisper White
Ink: Rish Razzleberry, Gold Encore
Accessories: Ornament Punch, Gold Cord, Chocolate Grosgrain, Gold Embossing Powder

I had a wonderful weekend away with my two girls. We went to my sister's house near Brooks! Absolutely fun weekend, and I got lots of shopping done. I was sorely in need of clothing as I've pretty much lost any baby weight I'd ever gained since my first child (whoo hoo!) and hadn't really bought clothes since ... I had awful baggy clothing :) LOL!

Anyways, here's another fun card that I'd made for my last Christmas Cards class. It's infinitely beautiful and easily mailable, don't you think?!

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Patterns Sketch 37

Stamps: Serene Snowflakes, Christmas Punch
Paper: Kraft, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White, Real Red
Accessories: Wide Oval Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Top Note die, Dimensionals®, Real Red Grosgrain

Isn't this an interesting sketch? I'm still so terribly oval-tarded that I almost go into panic mode when I see them, LOL! (kidding of course) I did just order the larger oval die cuts so we'll see what difference those make to my oval-tardedness!! Anyways, this card is incredibly simple and I love it. It's easy to make a bunch of them and more importantly: it's mailable for one stamp!!

Hope you like my card using today's sketch! Please check out the Card Patterns blog to see what the rest of the team did and link up your own creation!!

Ink: Whisper White, Basic Grey
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Sponges, White Embossing Powder, Dazzling Diamonds, White Taffeta Ribbon

Good morning! I've been a bit of a remiss blogger this week ... too busy! But, I got all the laundry done, the closets organized and all the clothes size-sorted (LOTS went to our local thrift store). But, of course, you don't come here to read that, you've come to see the latest Inkspirations challenge! LOL!!

Keesh has put together a beautiful colour combination that actually had me stumped for a bit. Pink? I'm still in Christmas mode and wasn't quite sure if these colours would work for a Christmas card but I must say that I adore this card! I made it for my most recent Christmas Cards class yesterday and they loved it too!!

The trees are stamped in white craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder (be careful when heat embossing vellum!). I added the glittery snow with a 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Please check out what the rest of the Inkspirations team did with these colours!!! Hope you like my card! Thanks for popping in for a visit!

This was the second project we'd made at my In Colour club. Like any Christmas card, the main elements are red, green, and gold. Well ... in this instance it's Old Olive, Dusty Durango, and Crushed Curry! The ornaments are all embossed using Iridescent Ice embossing powder for a little added fun and bling!

I finally made some time to participate in the challenges over at Stampin' Addicts. I've done one or two in the past, but hadn't done any more. This sketch from Paula was really interesting and seeing as how I've got some Christmas card classes coming up, this was a perfect jump start!

Card Patterns Sketch 36

Wow, this is a really interesting sketch with the wavy line across. I flipped the sketch :) We're being sponsored by the Cutting Cafe and so I used the pumpkins this week. I printed them out onto patterned paper and then added a touch of colour with Copic markers. They were then embossed with clear embossing powder. Go check out the sketch and the rest of the DT's cards!

Thanks for visiting!

With every Friday comes a new challenge from Keesh! This week the sketch is quite interesting and because I'm in Christmas mode, guess what you get? A Christmas card! LOL :) It actually snowed here yesterday and the thermometer has fallen below zero for the day ... Celsius, that is. It's about 23F right now ... yuck. Oh well, I do love winter, it just happens to begin early here!

Anyways, the card. I stamped Dasher using craft ink and then embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

Hope you like it! Please visit my fellow Inkspiration teammates to see what they've come up with this week!! Link up your creation using the sketch on Keesh's blog. I'd love to see what you make!

SCS Sketch Challenge!

Stamps: Winter Post, Four the Holidays, Lovely As A Tree
Paper: Kraft, Real Red, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Stazon™, various for colouring, Chocolate Chip, Versa Mark®, Whisper White
Accessories: Snowflake Punch, Chocolate Satin, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Dimensionals®

Finally found time to create something for a SplitCoast challenge. It seems like forever since I've done one because I always feel compelled to do it on the day they are issued and I rarely have that kind of time! This will be one of the cards we'll be making at one of the upcoming Christmas Cards classes later this month.

I started out by stamping the snowflake on the Real Red card stock using Whisper White and then with the Spritzer tool, I added splats of Chocolate Chip. The edges were sponged (as were the edges of everything else!). The main image was stamped and watercoloured as well as embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I also embossed the punched snowflake for a little pop!

I tired to keep the card nice and flat for my Christmas theme this year -- MAILABILITY!! Otherwise, a card will cost $1.18 to mail. I don't mind doing that for the occasional card but when you're mailing 40 or so, that gets expensive quickly. I've discovered that anything on dimensionals will be fine, but keep the layers low for those parts.

Soooooooooooooo, as you can see, the card is light on layers but not on detail!! If you're interested in attending a class of mine, just email me! There's a "Contact Me" link up top!!

Hope you like it :) Thanks for stopping by!
