Our third and final project for stamp club is this really cute acetate box! So simple to make, but you need to be precise with your scoring measurements otherwise it will not look right when put together! Here are the details for this particular box:
Step 1
I cut an 8-1/2" x 11 piece of transparency (available at any stationary store) in half, leaving me with a piece of transparency that was 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".
Step 2
Scoring across the 5-1/2" length, I scored at these measurements: 1-15/16", 3-7/8", 5-13/16", 7-3/4". Yes, I know, weird measurements but basically, each of the four sides is just a bit shy of 2" each.
Step 3
Using your bone folder, fold each score line firmly. Put sticky strip on the final outside section (it's the chunk that's about 3/4") and adhere the box shape.
Now, that's the box itself but you need a top and a bottom! Here's what I did for the bottom and top:
- Cut a piece of Double Sided Designer Paper to 3-1/2" square
- Score 3/4" down from each edge. You should have something that looks somewhat like a tic-tac-toe game, except not all perfect squares ... !
- Following that sad little drawing on the left, you can see where to snip to the first score line as well as on the diagonal.
- Fold and adhere to create the lid!
- It's essentially the same as for the top except the scoring measurement is different as well as the size of cardstock.
- Cut a piece of Double Sided Designer Paper to 4-1/2" square
- Score 1-1/4" down from each edge, continue as for lid top.
On my box bottom, I scalloped the edges using my corner rounder before I assembled it. If you need a recipe for this, please just leave me a comment!
